It is not my job to tell a lawyer what to do. But it is my job to show a lawyer what can be done. I just make people aware and leave them to decide for themselves, based upon what I know and what insights I have. It is a lawyers choice to recognise that value, or not.
Just because clients engage with lawyers one way does not mean that they cannot engage in another.
I hope we don’t kill off the excitement, the fear and unpredictability of real time conversations where we look people in the eye, read their body language, hear their laughter, understand their tears, listen to their stories and all of those other incredibly beautiful quirks, idiosyncrasies and emotions that make us…human.
There is a forgotten part of innovation that I don’t think sits well with the current lawyer culture. I think it could partly explains why lawyers aren’t that innovative.
Lawyer are not comfortable with technology and less so with salesmen. So imagine what it is like selling technology into lawyers.
